Passenger transport recovery continues at Schiphol in November

NETHERLANDS. The slight increase in passenger transport seen in October at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport continued throughout November.

Figures published by Schiphol Group show that the number of passengers served by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol increased by +2.6% to almost three million in November.

The group said: “Passenger transport seems to be recovering following the adverse impact of Iraq, SARS and the economic slowdown evident during the summer.

“Both the number of O/D (origination/destination) passengers and the number of transfer passengers increased in November compared with the same month last year.”

November showed growth in all regions, with the exception of transport to and from North America. The number of intercontinental passengers rose by +3.1%, whereas the number of passengers travelling to European destinations was up +2.5%.

The main duty free retailers at Amsterdam Schiphol are KLM Tax Free Services (wines & spirits) and Kappé International (fragrances & cosmetics).
