Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne set to lead Liz Claiborne? – 22/06/06

US. Long-time Estée Lauder executive Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne seems set to succeed Paul Charron as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Liz Clairborne Inc, according to a recent report in Women’s Wear Daily.

The publication claimed it had learned that the board was “in the final stages” of negotiations with Bousquet-Chavanne, who was appointed Group President at the Estée Lauder Companies in 2001.

Charron is scheduled to retire at the end of the year.

Officials at both Claiborne and executive search firm Spencer Stuart have been “tight-lipped” on the search since Charron announced his plans to retire earlier this year, said WWD. Bousquet-Chavanne, Estée Lauder and Liz Claiborne all declined to comment.

Bousquet-Chavanne originally joined the Lauder group in 1989 as Vice President and General Manager, Aramis International, where he was responsible for sales, marketing and finance for the Aramis brand in more than 100 markets.

From 1992 until 1996, he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Company’s Travel Retailing Division.

Following a brief stint at Parfums Christian Dior in 1997, Bousquet-Chavanne returned to Lauder in 1998 as President Estée Lauder International, moving to his current role three years later.
