SINGAPORE. The Patrón Spirits Company, brand owners of ultra-premium Patrón tequila, has finalised a partnership with King Power International to list Patrón at 13 King Power duty free stores in Thailand.

“As we get ready for what’s sure to be another successful TFWA Asia Pacific & Gate One2One show in Singapore, we’re pleased to announce that such an important and well-respected duty free retailer in the region has chosen to list Patrón tequila among their luxury spirits offerings,” said Quincy Wei, Vice President for Asia Pacific at the Las Vegas-based Patrón Spirits Company. “We’re honoured that duty free shoppers in Thailand can now find Patrón tequila at King Power’s “˜King of Duty Free’ stores.”
In under three years, Patrón tequila has grown its distribution to more than 75 countries and islands worldwide – up from just two markets when it began its international expansion. Patrón sold a total of 1.6 million cases in 2007, an increase of +49% year-on-year. The company projects that Patrón will be a 1.9 million case brand by the end of 2008.
In the duty free channel, Patrón is now in over 60 top airports worldwide, such as Singapore Changi, Auckland International, Taiwan Taoyuan, London Heathrow and Gatwick, New York JFK, and now also at Thailand airports including Suvarnabhumi in Bangkok. In 2007, Patrón added 20 new airports to this list. Patrón can also be found in numerous border stores and major cruise lines. In the domestic market, Patrón is distributed throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
“Five years ago if you told duty free operators that ultra-premium tequila would be one of the most profitable and sought-after products on their shelves, they never would have believed it,” said Patrón Chief Operating Officer John McDonnell. “People across the world, particularly those who enjoy top-shelf white spirits, have come to recognise and appreciate the sophistication, versatility and exceptional taste of high-quality tequila such as Patrón.”

TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition roll-out
This year at the Suntec Singapore show, The Patrón Spirits Company (Stand number: C8) will debut its limited-production Gran Patrón Burdeos, a one-of-a-kind añejo tequila that is racked in first growth French Bordeaux barrels.
Introduced last year in select locations, this triple-distilled tequila (and its silver counterpart Gran Patrón Platinum), has been “extremely well-received” by travel retail customers, said Patrón. Along with Gran Patrón Burdeos, the company’s full portfolio will be available at the show, including Patrón tequilas, Pyrat rums, and its latest acquisition, the ultra-premium Utimat vodka from Poland.
“We’re extremely proud to showcase our entire portfolio of ultra-premium spirits in Singapore, and we’re especially excited to introduce Ultimat, a very different style of high quality vodka in that it’s produced from a precise blend of wheat, rye and potato,” said McDonnell. “The Patrón Spirits Company’s recent acquisition of Ultimat signifies our goal of becoming a significant player in the ultra-premium spirits industry.”
