Paul & Shark will present its SS17 and FW17 Sharkflage range along with key pieces from the AW17/18 collection at next week’s TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition (stand D11).
The Sharkflage collection, developed in collaboration with South African biologist and shark photographer Chris Fallows, pays homage to the shark. Paul & Shark has graphically revisited one of his images to create an exclusive pattern for t-shirts, technical jackets and accessories such as a backpack, baseball cap and surfboard. The collection has been available in domestic and travel retail stores since February.
As part of the project, Paul & Shark is donating part of the proceeds of the Capsule Collection to the Dyer Island Conservation Trust, a non-profit organisation with which Fallows collaborates in relation to the Great White Shark project that explores and protects the fish. The Sharkflage range also features Paul & Shark’s best-selling C0P918 water repellent wool sweater. It has been made into a special edition for the brand’s 40th anniversary, with sharkflage print on the shoulders and elbows, and is presented in special sharkflage packaging.

Four jackets from the AW17/18 collection, inspired by Alex Bellini’s adventure at -40 degrees on Iceland’s glacier, Vatnajökull, will be highlighted in Singapore:
Water Jacket – #SHARKHUB 01– is designed like a fabric parka but reproduces the luminescent effects of materials with reflectors and the camouflage shades of vegetation. It is water and wind resistant.
Fire Jacket – #SHARKHUB 02– the surface of this multi-zip jacket has an iridescent effect reminiscent of bright flames. It is claimed to be waterproof and resistant to tears and is made with Tyveck, a fabric which reflects the loss of heat onto the body, reducing it to a minimum even at the lowest temperatures.
Air Jacket – #SHARKHUB 03 – a military style jacket made with a hollow fibre treated to allow ‘complete’ thermal insulation. The garment is lightweight and resistant to water and wind.
Earth Jacket – #SHARKHUB 04 – the jacket, designed for leisurewear, is made of cotton poplin and lightweight seamless, thermo-taped nylon.

Paul & Shark Global Travel Retail Director Catherine Bonelli said: “We are pleased to report that Paul & Shark has seen another extremely successful year where by the end of 2016 we had achieved 62 points of sale in travel retail and are already confirmed to reach 70 by the end of 2017.
“We have significantly expanded our business in Asia, and customers are truly embracing the made in Italy and high quality craftsmanship of the brand. We have opened a string of new stores in both airports and downtown duty free stores, and still see a lot of growth potential in the region.
“We also strongly believe in the cruise line business expansion in the ASPAC region, which seems to attract many brands and key operators and we see a lot of potential in this area. As part of this focus we have partnered with Dufry in the opening of a personalised dedicated space onboard the new Norwegian Joy cruise ship; set to open in April 2017.”
Bonnelli continued: “Coming up soon is our new Personalise Your Button service which will be available in-store from June 2017 for the FW collection and further completes our personalisation service along with the embroidery machine, which has now become somewhat of a trademark of the brand.
“Shirts and polos from this collection will include a label tag that invites purchasers to enter a dedicated website and enter their initials which will be embroidered on a button cover at no extra cost. It’s a fantastic way of building a database of clients and ensuring that the sale does not stop at the airport, downtown shop, cruise ship etc.”
