Play9 goes live with first digital play installation at London Heathrow

UK. Play9 has installed its first digital play unit at London Heathrow Airport.

The Australian firm specialises in providing kids’ entertainment in a range of locations from airports to shopping malls.

The first Play9 Kids Zone installation at Heathrow is located within the British Airways check-in area in Terminal 5. The aim is to make the check-in process easier for families.

As shown in the video above, the Kids Zone features Play9’s signature double-sided unit and game pack ‘The Fruitables’.

The Play9 project at Heathrow has been in development for 12 months and the company was briefed to assist with both landside and airside operations, including duty free, food & beverage and specialty retail.

Further units are planned across Heathrow’s terminals, Play9 said.

“Our work within shopping centres and retailers has been about visitation and dwell time, whereas at airports the proposition is about experience in the terminals and ensuring the passenger flow does not continue past the retail to the boarding gates too soon,” said Play9 General Manager Michael Bickers.

“We have seen incredible success at a number of airports and are really excited to see the impact across multiple locations at Heathrow.”
