TAIWAN. Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has completed a five-month refurbishment of its four Plaza Premium Lounges across terminals 1 and 2 at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
The project, which introduces new interiors, expanded dining facilities and upgraded guest services, coincides with the airport hospitality specialist’s tenth anniversary in Taiwan.

Plaza Premium Group entered the market at Taoyuan International Airport in 2016 and says it has since served more than 6 million travellers in Taiwan.
The four refurbished lounges have each been given a distinct identity inspired by Taiwanese culture and landscapes. T1 Zone C is named The Blossom, while the Zone D lounge is The Jade. In T2, Zone A is home to The Terroir and Zone A1 to The Crest.

The concepts draw respectively on elements including Taiwan’s orchids, jade craftsmanship, tea culture and mountain landscapes, with PPG seeking to create a stronger sense of place across the passenger experience.
Capacity and dining enhancements
The refurbishment includes reconfigured layouts, additional seating and upgraded furnishings, designed both to increase capacity and improve passenger flow.
Dining areas have also been revamped with expanded buffet stations and redesigned layouts.

The investment coincides with the second season of PPG’s global Flavours in Transit culinary programme, themed ‘From Our Roots to Your Plate’.
Representing Taiwan in the programme, Executive Chef Russ Wang has created Taiwanese Sha Cha Beef Noodles using Yilan Sanxing scallions, house-made sha cha sauce and Shaoxing chilli oil.
Other local dishes available across the lounges include Shredded Chicken Rice with Fried Shallots and Taiwanese Sticky Rice, alongside vegetarian options.

PPG has also stepped up its collaboration with Taiwanese food & beverage brands as part of the redevelopment.
For the first time, Plaza Premium Lounge has partnered with Michelin Bib Gourmand-recognised Moon Moon Food to offer an exclusive dish, ‘Love and Hate Sesame Chili Noodles’.
Taiwanese tea specialist Chappii has developed exclusive tea beverages for the lounges, while local brand Drink Sport has created cocktails combining Oolong tea influences with whisky-inspired mixology.
Selected lounges also feature a DIY cocktail bar, allowing passengers to prepare personalised drinks.
Private rest suites target transit passengers
A notable addition at The Terroir in T2 is a series of private rest suites developed through a partnership with mattress company Sealy.

Available in single- and double-occupancy configurations, the rooms feature hotel-style bedding and are targeted particularly at long-haul and transit passengers.
The redevelopment also introduces dedicated airline-exclusive areas and private VIP rooms, extending the range of services PPG can offer commercial partners and passengers seeking greater privacy.
Taiwanese art takes centre stage
Local art and design form another important element of the revamped proposition.
PPG has partnered with Acme+Art Gallery to install 15 curated artworks across its T1 and T2 lounges.

The inaugural exhibition features Taiwanese contemporary artist Wu Chia Hua, whose work combines Eastern philosophical influences with modern abstract forms and uses materials including natural mineral pigments and gemstone textures.
Works from Wu’s Golden Mosaic, Silver Layers and Jade Formations series feature alongside pieces by several emerging Taiwanese artists.
The initiative is designed to turn the lounges into showcases for contemporary Taiwanese creativity while reinforcing the wider sense of place strategy underpinning the refurbishment.

All four upgraded lounges are now fully operational.
Access is available through airline and card partnerships, walk-in admission, online booking, corporate programmes and PPG’s Smart Traveller loyalty platform. ✈
