Rassin & Shen sets sights on travel retail for its eyewear accessories

Following strong progress in domestic markets, eyewear accessories specialist Rassin & Shen is turning its attention to the travel retail industry.

Rassin & Shen was founded in 2015 by Efrat Rassin from Tel Aviv and Tara Shen from Shanghai, after winning a Sirius Programme Award. The programme, funded by UK Trade & Investment, offers financial support to international graduates with high growth business ideas to set up in the UK.

Rassin & Shen: “reimagining” eyewear accessories with a collection of necklaces and chains to hold glasses and sunglasses

Targeting a market in between fashion accessories and eyewear, Rassin & Shen’s debut collection focuses on necklaces and chains to hold glasses and sunglasses. Selected products were launched last week in London’s Liberty store and a full collection is available on www.rassinshen.com.

The necklaces are said to be handmade of acetate cellulose, and are coloured and tailored to reflect latest trends in eyewear. “Designs have playfulness and hidden function as well as reference to ideas such as women’s strength and appreciation of artisanal quality,” the brand stated.

Four ranges are included in the collection. The first range (No. 1) features ‘unconventional’ candy shaped links in four colours: Toyko, Light Tokyo, Moonlight Grey and Onyx. No. 2 offers classic flat oval links in five colours: Burgundy, Monochrome Glamour, Midnight Blue, Classic Tokyo and Sunrise Gold, while No. 3 includes oval shapes in Purple Tokyo, Fading Light Tokyo, Gradual Tokyo and Pearl White colours.

Rassin & Shen’s collection offers four styles of necklaces in a range of different colours

Available in Orange Crush, Teal Blue, Back ‘n’ Red and Midnight Raspberry, the fourth range features “Funky” mixed shapes.

According to Rassin & Shen, raw material is sourced from France, from a leading cellulose acetate factory, owned by the Mazzucchelli 1849 Spa. Cellulose acetate is a plant-based plastic, commonly used in the eyewear industry for premium and luxury frames. The material is strong, lightweight, flexible and hypoallergenic and known for its transparency, colours, and finishes, Rassin & Shen stated.

Each item in the Rassin & Shen collection is handcrafted in a 30 year-old business in Poland, while brass findings are plated with 18ct gold in China, said the brand.

Rassin & Shen products recently featured in Swiss International Air Lines’ magazine.
