MAURITIUS. Rodrigues Duty Free Paradise has inaugurated its new, expanded store at Sir Gaetan Duval Airport, with a design developed by Dufry International.
The store now covers 200sq m selling liquor, perfumes and confectionery. There is also a special area in the store called Discovering Rodrigues, stocking high quality local handicraft products.
Located in the departure lounge of the airport, formerly known as Plaine Corail Airport, it will serve the 60,000 passengers passing through every year. According to Chairman Maga Ramasamy, the airport authority is expecting those numbers to double over the coming years.

In keeping with efforts on the island to become more eco-friendly, the store is avoiding the use of plastic bags, replacing them with handicraft bags made of cloth and produced on the island by local artisans.
The Rodrigues Duty Free Paradise Ltd is a owned mainly by two main state corporations, the Airport of Rodrigues and Mauritius Duty Free Paradise.
