Russ Berrie and Aldeasa report strong response to key promotions

During May and June, Lil Peepers cat and dog assortments were offered at a reduced retail price of €9.95 from €13.95


SPAIN. Russ Berrie, in partnership with Aldeasa, has launched several promotions throughout Spain in 2010 and reported strong sales results.

Russ Berrie Duty Free Account Manager Western Europe Rebecca Dickinson said: “We’ve been working with Aldeasa for well over a decade and have enjoyed a mutually beneficial and very supportive relationship. Our communication is excellent and, thanks to this, we have been able to develop a strong promotional plan for this year which we believe is important while travellers are still cautious about spending in travel retail.”

The cat and dog price reduction promotion saw dog sales increase by +177%, while cat sales grew +264%


Summer promotions for its Lil Peepers range of bug-eyed plush animals have seen sales soar at Aldeasa’s airports in Spain and Spanish holiday islands, according to Dickinson. Price reduction programmes have been running in a total of 16 airports including Madrid (all terminals), Barcelona, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Tenerife and Fuerteventura.

During May and June, Lil Peepers cat and dog assortments were offered at a reduced retail price of €9.95, compared to the usual €13.95. Dickinson said: “The dogs saw a +177% increase in value sales compared to the previous two months and the cats a massive +264% increase, so we are absolutely delighted with the results.”

During July and August, items from the Lil Peepers Sealife collection were offered at the same price reduction. Dickinson commented: “It’s too early to give final results for both months, but it’s certainly looking equally encouraging with July seeing an increase in value sales over June of +136%.”

During September and October, the Lil Peepers offer will be replaced with a promotion featuring the lifelike Yomiko dogs. “We will be running the promotion in the same airport locations; we ran one over Easter last year which was very successful so it will be interesting to see how sales compare.”
