THE NETHERLANDS. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has posted strong year-on-year passenger growth for April.
According to Schiphol Group, the airport welcomed +15.4% more passengers during the month compared with April 2003. In April 2003, passenger volume declined by -8.7% year-on-year, mainly due to the Iraq war and the SARS outbreak.
This April, passenger transport to intercontinental destinations, so affected by the 2003 crises, climbed considerably.
Air transport movements increased by +3.5% in the month year-on-year, compared with a -4.7% fall last April as demand slumped.
The +3.5% increase seen this April indicates that the number of flights has not yet completely reverted to the pre-2003 level the group said.
