Scorpio launches space-age watch in new Sturmanskie range

A replica of the first watch worn in space by Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin in 1961 will feature in Scorpio Distributors’ new collection of Sturmanskie watches, to be shown at TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes this October (Mediterranean Village P8).

Sturmanskie watches were standard issue for Soviet pilots in the 1960s. Unavailable to the public, they were chosen for their military precision, workmanship and reliability. Exclusive to travel retail and developed specifically for Scorpio, the range of men’s retro watches has been designed to replicate the originals, in particular the Gagarin model.

Scorpio will be adding further new brands to its portfolio. These include an exclusive collection of Hot Diamonds watches, introduced following the success of the brand’s jewellery offer, and an inflight range from British designer Vivienne Westwood.

Vivienne Westwood designs will only be available in travel retail

Again only available in travel retail, the Vivienne Westwood collection includes three women’s and two men’s models that come in either a stainless steel or gold plated case. Dials are black, cream or pink for the women’s styles, black or brown for men. Straps are black, cream or pink leather for women and silver or black leather for men. They will retail at around US$265.

The Levi’s range includes the LTH05 Core collection, decorated with Swarovski crystals

Levi’s is another brand in the new range, with several different collections.

The LTG08 Standard features the emblematic Levi’s colour stitching, red luminous hands and 3D printing on a black or white dial; the simply designed LTHO5 Core comes in white, black or purple, decorated with Swarovski crystals. And the LTH07 Standard – winner of the Red dot product design award – has a touch screen LED watch where the wearer slides their finger across the screen to check the time and date. This model can also provide the wearer with a daily thought-provoking message. Retail prices will start at around US$95.

New models for Aviator and Swiss watch brand Jacques de Manoir will also be added to Scorpio’s range.
