Select Service Partner clinches Copenhagen contracts – 23/02/05

DENMARK. Select Service Partner (SSP) has been awarded two new contracts at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport, sealing its position as the operator of most of the catering facilities at the airport’s three terminals.

SSP will open a restaurant and a brasserie in terminal two, plus other concepts yet to be agreed. New units will also be built in the refurbished T3.

The T2 contract is valued at €120 million over seven years, with the eight-year T3 contract being worth €67 million. SSP’s contract for F&B operations in T1 was renewed last year.

According to SSP Denmark Managing Director Martin Christensen, the success of the company’s operations was instrumental in helping the company to win the new business.

“The quality and variety of options we offer mean that we have managed to achieve a growth in food and beverage sales which far exceeds the increase in passenger numbers,” he said. “The Danish Kitchen, which has successfully created a modern ambience while retaining the atmosphere of the original architecture of the building, has been particularly well received by passengers, and sales have risen by 40%. We hope to achieve a similar level of success in our new operations.”

SSP, a division of the UK’s Compass Group, is the leading global airport F&B specialist, operating in 35 countries on all continents.
