Shanghai Tang makes European travel retail debut with new Gebr Heinemann store at Frankfurt Airport – 24/04/09

GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport has become Europe’s only airport and the first location of any kind in Germany to host a Shanghai Tang boutique.

Except for its home base in Hong Kong and other Asian cities such as Shanghai, Tokyo and Beijing, the Chinese luxury concept has so far only been represented in the leading fashion capitals of New York, Paris, London and Madrid.

The 22sq m boutique offers men’s and women’s fashion and accessories in typically vibrant Shanghai Tang colours

Now the brand has made its European travel retail debut through Gebr Heinemann at Frankfurt Airport, Terminal 1 in the B transit area.

The 22sq m boutique offers men’s and women’s clothing and accessories. Shoppers can find a wide range of sunglasses and leathergoods, such as briefcases, humorous luggage tags and both classic and innovative purses.

The jewellery collections feature Chinese designs on bracelets, chains and earrings, scarves and shawls. The motifs borrow from Chinese calligraphy, China’s silk paintings and contemporary Chinese art.

Location: Frankfurt International Airport (Terminal 1) Area B, Level 2

Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 6am-10pm

ABOUT SHANGHAI TANG

Founded in 1994 by Hong Kong Chinese entrepreneur David Tang Wing-Cheung (now Sir David Tang), Shanghai Tang developed into the first global Chinese lifestyle and luxury brand.

The successful concept was born in the first shop in Hong Kong, which attracted attention with made-to-order garments in the highest Chinese handicraft tradition, drawing over a million visitors a year.

Shanghai Tang improvises with traditional Chinese characters, translating them into contemporary lifestyle fashions. Today the brand is controlled by Swiss luxury brand group Richemont.
