CHINA. Shenzhen Duty Free Group has secured the arrivals duty-free contract at Wuxi Shuofang Airport through an open tender.
The company describes the success as “a significant breakthrough in the group’s goal of deepening its national presence and a crucial step in its strategic expansion into the Jiangsu market”.
Located in southeastern China’s Jiangsu province, Wuxi Shuofang Airport is a key aviation hub shared by the cities of Wuxi and Suzhou, and plays an important role in connecting the Yangtze River Delta to the rest of the country and beyond, supporting regional economic and social development.

As the second-largest airport in Jiangsu, it has seen continuous expansion in its operational scale and steady improvements in service quality in recent years, establishing itself as a vital engine driving high-quality regional economic growth.
The arrivals duty-free store covers an area of 100sq m and boasts promising market prospects given the airport’s advantages as a significant regional hub, Shenzhen Duty Free Group said, adding that the win represents a crucial part in its development strategy of expanding beyond Guangdong province, the group’s home base.
The company said, “We will leverage our whole-industry-chain resources and operational expertise to meet diverse traveller needs, enhance regional tourism consumption, and help elevate the brand image of Wuxi city.
“We will also integrate existing airport duty-free resources throughout Jiangsu province to drive synergies, strengthen Wuxi Shuofang Airport’s hub role in the Yangtze River Delta, hence boosting its economy and high-quality development.”
The group plans to take the Wuxi Shuofang Airport arrivals concession as an opportunity to support the national policy of boosting domestic consumption and promoting consumption repatriation. It pledges to create an exemplary model of ‘aviation hub + quality consumption’ and continue to serve the development of China’s duty-free industry. ✈
