Shinsegae Duty Free kicks off quarterly promotional push with Chuseok mega sale

As Chuseok fuels holiday travel, Shinsegae Duty Free is looking to capture the seasonal surge with an extensive selection spanning beauty, fashion, spirits and more

SOUTH KOREA. Shinsegae Duty Free has debuted a quarterly shopping campaign offering exclusive deals across a broad selection of products to drive engagement among Korean and international travellers throughout the year.

The inaugural edition runs from 17 September to 11 October at the retailer’s Myeong-dong store and online platform to coincide with Chuseok, the Republic’s three-day harvest festival and autumn holiday on 24-26 September, as well as the consecutive public holidays of National Foundation Day (3 October) and Hangul Day (9 October).

Dubbed ‘Shin Duty Free Sale’, the flagship campaign uses ‘Shin’ – a friendly shortened reference to Shinsegae Duty Free – to create a more approachable and catchier name.

Luxury, beauty, fashion, leathergoods, spirits and more feature across the promotion, alongside an ‘Affordable Luxury’ offer showcasing selected luxury brands and bestsellers at attractive duty-free prices.

Adding a strong homegrown element to the beauty offer, Shinsegae-owned Yunjac features prominently across the campaign

The online promotion features 3,800 products from 277 brands at discounts of up to -70%, including approximately 2,200 cosmetics and fragrance products from 173 best-selling brands at up to -60% off.

The participating line-up includes global beauty names such as YSL Beauty, Lancôme, Kiehl’s, Prada Beauty (fragrance), Swiss Just and Thome.

The promotion will feature exclusive discounts from Shinsegae Duty Free’s popular brands and leading K-beauty names, including up to -40% off Yunjac, -49% off Vidivici, -30% off Swiss Perfection, -48% off Amuse and -49% off Dewarsome.

The retailer’s exclusive brands Da Effect and Sun.Shuruup will also offer savings of up to -50%.

The online sale features approximately 1,300 products from 83 brands across fashion, accessories and leathergoods, complemented by more than 160 exclusive products and promotional items from Shinsegae Duty Free’s exclusive brands.

At Shinsegae Duty Free’s Myeong-dong location in Seoul, around 290 products from 85 premium brands will be offered at discounts of up to -40%, including Sulwhasoo, The History of Whoo, Anua and Biotherm.

Throughout the 25-day campaign, Shinsegae Duty Free will keep updating its offer by tailoring product selections to each sales channel according to customer preferences and rotating featured products and promotional benefits.

A more engaging traveller experience

Beyond price reductions, the inaugural ‘Shin Duty Free Sale’ will feature a series of themed promotions. These include ‘Captain Ttager Pick’, a spirits-focused campaign created in collaboration with Captain Ttager, one of Korea’s leading travel content creators with more than 770,000 YouTube subscribers.

The promotion will offer shoppers special deals on best-selling spirits including Glenfiddich and The Balvenie.

In partnership with Amorepacific, the retailer will also roll out the Amore Beauty Shinsegae Brand Week, spotlighting popular products from leading brands including Sulwhasoo, Hera and Aestura, alongside Shinsegae Duty Free-exclusive sets and special purchase benefits.

The inaugural Shin Duty Free Sale will run in two promotional waves, with the first running from 17 to 30 September and the second from 1 to 11 October, timed to travellers’ holiday schedules.

Product highlights and benefits will change between the two waves, offering travellers different options depending on their travel schedule.

A Shinsegae Duty Free representative said, “Shin Duty Free Sale brings together the products our customers love – from luxury and beauty to fashion and spirits – along with exclusive experiences and offers that can only be found at Shinsegae Duty Free.

“We plan to make Shin Duty Free Sale a signature shopping event, returning four times a year around Korea’s major holidays and peak travel periods.”
