SK-II and Lotte Duty Free deepen partnership with prestige skincare agreement

The agreement reflects a shared commitment to place consumers at the heart of travel retail and create differentiated experiences that give travellers a compelling reason to visit, discover and purchase, the partners said

SK-II and Lotte Duty Free have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop their prestige skincare offer through personalised consultations, gifting services and joint marketing initiatives.

The agreement was signed on 28 September at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes by Lotte Duty Free CEO Kim Dong-Ha and P&G Global Skincare President SK Lee (pictured above).

Initial initiatives are planned for the retailer’s Myeongdong Main Store and Incheon International Airport flagship boutique.

The MOU covers five priority areas: enhanced customer service and consultations; differentiated gifting services at the Incheon International Airport flagship store; expanded joint promotions and marketing; joint business planning and market development; and the exploration of new strategic collaboration opportunities.

As a first step, Lotte Duty Free will expand the SK-II offering at its Myeongdong Main Store and introduce the SK-II Skin Ceremony. Inspired by the heritage, innovation and craftsmanship behind PITERA, the consultation experience will be led by SK-II Skin Experts, offering personalised skin guidance and product discovery.

At Lotte Duty Free’s Incheon International flagship store, SK-II will introduce an exclusive gifting service that allows purchases to be personalised with an initial charm and signature ribbon.

Joint promotions and marketing activities will further bring the world of SK-II and PITERA to life. The partners will host an invitation-only event for VIP customers at the Myeongdong Main Store in the first quarter of 2027. The event will showcase SK-II’s heritage and innovation, with personalised guidance from the brand’s Skin Experts.

It builds on six beauty classes held for Lotte Duty Free VIP customers earlier this year. The classes combined product introductions with flower-arranging sessions, hand massages and personalised skin consultations.

“These agreements mark an opportunity to further strengthen the global brand network and product competitiveness that Lotte Duty Free has built,” said Lotte Duty Free Kim Dong-Ha. “We will continue to lead the duty-free market by working with global brands to introduce distinctive products and services.”

“Consumers are at the heart of all that we do at SK-II,” said P&G Global Skincare President SK Lee. “This partnership with Lotte Duty Free is a testament to our continued commitment to raising the bar in crafting irresistibly superior experiences for them, especially in travel retail.

“We want to provide a sanctuary for our consumers to immerse in the world of SK-II and PITERA, and to learn about their skin with our Skin Experts – another first for SK-II in this era of new retail skincare experiences.” ✈
