US. Smashbox Cosmetics has unveiled a new eye make-up item called Bionic Mascara, said to endow lashes with “superhuman strength”.
The formula, which features ionic technology, boosts eyelashes from the inside out, making them stronger and longer, according to the company. Volume and shine are also increased.
Bionic Mascara’s key ingredient is a chain molecule with a positive charge. The friction caused by sweeping the mascara brush across lashes causes a negative charge. The positively charged formula binds to negatively charged lashes, delivering longer, stronger and voluminous lashes in just one coat, claims Smashbox.
Other key components include aloe, wheat protein, silk and olive oil for their conditioning properties. Bionic Mascara also features a specially engineered brush, which is said to eliminate clumping.
Bionic Mascara is long-wearing, water-resistant and available in black. It is priced domestically at US$19.
