Spanish group poised to seal TBI deal – 02/02/05

SPAIN/UK. Spanish group ACDL (Airport Concessions and Development Limited), made up of Abertis Infraestructuras (90%) and Aena Internacional (10%), is close to closing the £551m (US$1.04bn) takeover of TBI, according to Abertis.

TBI has interests in London Luton, Belfast International and Cardiff International airports in the UK, Stockholm Skavsta in Sweden, Orlando Sanford in the US and three major Bolivian airports (La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz).

The Spanish group’s takeover is part of a drive to secure further stakes in airport operations. Abertis’ only Latin American airport business is its 85% control of Codad, which holds a concession for the first and second runway at Bogotá airport.

TBI assumed operations in 1999 of Bolivian airport concessionaire Sabsa, which won a 25-year operation, maintenance and expansion contract for La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz airports in 1996.
