SSP serves up five fresh dining concepts at Keflavik Airport

ICELAND. SSP has enhanced its portfolio at Keflavik Airport with an additional five dining outlets launched on 4 November.

Building on its spring 2023 debut, the global travel restaurateur has introduced brands, four of which were developed by SSP or designed specifically for the travel hub.

Adalstræti serves as a modern food hall combining diverse culinary offerings with a streamlined digital ordering system

Among the highlights is Adalstræti Food Hall, a spacious food court featuring two dining concepts and a bar.

Positioned as the centerpiece of the dining area, The Drinks Hub was designed exclusively for Keflavik Airport and offers a wide selection of drinks, including the popular Icelandic beer Gull, creating a strong sense of place.

Following its success at Oslo Airport, SSP-owned Trattoria Tavolare has joined the latest dining line-up at Keflavik Airport. The Italian casual-dining concept offers an all-day menu with breakfast, pizzas baked in an authentic oven and a variety of Italian specialities.

Icelandic burger brand Yuzu has introduced its “bold flavours and playful attitude” to travellers, offering beef, vegan and fried chicken burgers that blend Icelandic classics, modern smashburgers and Asian-inspired flavours.

SSP has enhanced the food court experience with a digital self-service ordering system, allowing customers to order and pay for food and drinks from multiple outlets, including the bar, in a single transaction. The system speeds up service, increases operational efficiency and reduces technical complexity.

An additional POINT kiosk, originally launched by SSP for the Nordic market in 2006, has opened at the airport as the third in Iceland, offering drinks, snacks, hot food and everyday essentials in the arrivals area.

The system has demonstrated proven success across SSP’s Nordic operations, with passengers responding positively to its convenience and all-in-one shopping experience.

SSP is also set to open an American-themed restaurant at the non-Schengen terminal featuring popular American-style dishes.

Enhancing the sense of place, the company will work with selected local suppliers to keep its offerings fresh through new products and promotions.

SSP noted its continued investment in advanced technical platforms for inventory management and staff planning, further enhancing efficiency and speed of service.

The openings benefit from Keflavik Airport’s extensive network, serving 27 airlines to 77 destinations, and welcoming 750,000 passengers in September. The travel hub’s ongoing phased expansion, which includes a third runway, new terminal piers and an airport city, is set to increase capacity to 15 million passengers annually.

SSP Nordics & Baltics CEO Stian Lund said: “These openings are testament to the great achievements of our team here in Iceland and the fabulous relationship we’ve forged with our client, Isavia. We’re very pleased to be building on these firm foundations in this key region.

“By bringing brands that have already proven to be formidable performers in Iceland as well as the wider Nordics, we’re confident that this outstanding mix of concepts will delight passengers across a range of demographics.”

Keflavik Airport Chief Commercial and Airport Development Officer Guðmundur Daði Rúnarsson added: “At Keflavík Airport, we place great emphasis on offering passengers quality and variety, in cooperation with trusted and experienced partners.

“SSP has proven to be a strong and reliable collaborator, with deep expertise in operating food & beverage concepts in international travel environments. We are very pleased to expand our partnership and look forward to continuing to develop the airport experience together.”  ‍
