DENMARK. Copenhagen Airport and food & beverage operator SSP have introduced a pop-up restaurant concept offering passengers a sample of the best of Nordic gastronomy. CPH Nordic Dining features an open kitchen situated in the square between Terminals 2 and 3, and will be open from 21 August to 30 September.
The event was planned to run alongside the city-wide Copenhagen Cooking food festival, which is being held between 20 August and 2 September. Each week the kitchen will be handed over to a different chef from some of Denmark’s leading restaurants, as well as the winner of the country’s Masterchef television competition in 2011.
The featured chefs are: Thomas Rode from Michelin-starred restaurant Kong Hans Kælder; Jakob De Neergaard, former Executive Chef at Søllerød Kro, which has also been awarded with a Michelin star; Adam Aamann, creator of the Michelin-recommended range of Aamann sandwiches; and Masterchef winner Timm Vladimir.
The chefs will take it in turns to offer a Nordic Tasting Menu for DKK239. A Nordic breakfast will also be available in large and small sizes.
Copenhagen Airport Sales and Marketing Vice President Carsten Nørland said: “Nordic gastronomy has become one of Denmark’s strongest brands and it is important that we, as one of Northern Europe’s most important hubs, redouble our efforts to provide travellers with a taste of Denmark. Great travel experiences begin at the airport and our ambition with this pop-up restaurant is to make good travel experiences even better. ”
SSP Denmark CEO Henrik Andersen said: “”We look forward to welcoming travellers to CPH Nordic Dining and are confident that the talented chefs and the experimental concept will make the restaurant a mecca.”
Masterchef winner Timm Vladimir said: “”I am extremely pleased and very honoured to be given this opportunity alongside some great chefs. I’m not worthy. But I’m going to do it anyway.”
