Starboard Group extends AI-powered skin analysis service across global fleet with Perfect Corp.

SkInsight technology provides travellers with personalised skincare advice at Starboard Group’s multi-brand beauty stores

INTERNATIONAL. Starboard Group has partnered with augmented-reality and artificial-intelligence services specialist Perfect Corp. to extend its SkInsight service across its global fleet.

Launched on Carnival Jubilee in December 2023, this “cutting-edge” interactive AI skin analysis is available onboard 30 more ships this month, including Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Line, Virgin Voyages and TUI Mein Schiff fleets.

The SkInsight digital experience offers detailed skin assessments to users in seconds, as well as bespoke skincare recommendations using products available onboard.

By blending advanced technology and immersive experiences, Starboard has developed SkInsight, a first-at-sea concept, featuring a shopping experience that reflects the diversity and energy of its passengers.

It also forms part of Starboard’s retailtainment concept which delivers immersive and interactive events and activations, while also creating distinctive retail environments and digital experiences, including ecommerce.

Powered by AI and augmented reality, SkInsight provides users with dermatologist-verified skincare solutions, generated just seconds after taking a photo.

The tool is designed to resolve skincare concerns from wrinkles, to texture and dark circles, or simple enhancements for radiant skin.

Since its launch, SkInsight has delivered glowing results, Starboard noted. This tool has not only led to a +20% increase in both sales volume and guest spending, but it has also contributed to a +10% rise in the average transaction value.

Perfect Corp. has designed a customised solution for Starboard Group to specifically address the challenges of operating at sea.

This solution features offline functionality and operates even without internet connectivity, ensuring reliable performance in onboard retail environments.
