Tequila Komos launches travel retail-exclusive Komos Reposado Cristalino

Tequila Komos is launching Komos Reposado Cristalino as a global travel retail-exclusive.

Parent company Casa Komos Brands Group claims Tequila Komos is the fastest-growing ultra-luxury tequila globally. The new expression will debut at duty-free shops in major US airports, Central America, the Caribbean and South America.

While the Komos portfolio is renowned for its ceramic and crystal bottles, Komos Reposado Cristalino features a metalised bottle, handmade by Mexican artisans and designed to be upcycled. The metalized ceramic helps preserve the aromas within the bottle.

“Tequila Komos was created with a global mindset, and designed to be enjoyed all day and night, wherever you travel,” said CKBG Co-Founder and Co-CEO Richard Betts.

“The launch of this global travel retail-exclusive expression further expands our reach at a time when accessibility to ultra-premium tequila is still nuanced but international travel continues to rebound post-COVID.

“It allows us to reach new consumers and new demographics, and bring Komos Reposado Cristalino to those who share our passion for wanderlust and revelry.”

“Launching a distinctive tequila expression dedicated to the global travel retail industry was the next logical step for Komos, after our highly-rated Tequila Komos portfolio became a global phenomenon in just three years, reaching 30+ countries,” added CKBG Co-Founder and Co-CEO Joe Marchese.

“Signs point to further growth in the global travel retail market, particularly for agave spirits, so establishing a presence in these spaces will bring even more potential for growth for the Komos portfolio.”

Komos Reposado Cristalino, along with Komos Añejo Cristalino, Komos Extra Añejo and Komos XO, will hit shelves in global travel retail and duty-free channels starting this month (40% ABV; SRP: US$130).

In keeping with Komos’ craftsmanship using ripe 100% Blue Weber agave hand-harvested from both the Highlands and Lowlands in Jalisco, Mexico, Komos Reposado Cristalino is aged for six months in French oak barrels formerly used for red and white wine.

During that time, it becomes richer and rounder, picking up delicate oak flavors while still allowing the natural agave flavors to shine. The liquid is then clarified with charcoal to remove impurities, creating a smooth, crystal-clear Reposado Cristalino. The final touch is aeration, to make the mouth feel softer and smoother, while adding richness and roundness.

The result is a well-balanced tequila, with a rich roasted agave-forward nose and complementing smoky minerality. The richness persists on the palate, with roasted agave notes joined by hints of French oak and nuttiness. ✈
