TFWA reveals workshop line-up for Asia Pacific conference in May

ASIA PACIFIC. TFWA has revealed details of four workshops for the first day of the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference, which takes place in Singapore on 12 May.

After the opening plenary session of the conference, delegates can choose between two workshops, with a further two workshops and a closing plenary in the afternoon.

Workshop A, moderated by The Moodie Report Vice Chairman and Editorial Director Dermot Davitt, will focus on East Asia (China, Japan And Korea).

The workshop will explore East Asia from the perspective of senior speakers from the region, including representatives from China Duty Free Group, NAA Retailing and Incheon International Airport Corp. Delegates will hear how consumer behaviour in China, Japan and Korea is evolving, and how infrastructure developments in those markets will lead to new opportunities for retailers and brands.

Australia and New Zealand will be covered in Workshop B, to be moderated by Gary Scattergood, Editor of Duty-Free News International.

This workshop will explore travel retail opportunities in the market with contributions from JR Duty Free Chairman Garry Stock, Auckland Airport General Manager of Retail and Commercial Richard Barker and LS travel retail Pacific CEO Matthieu Mercier.

In the afternoon, Workshop C on South-East Asia will be moderated by Doug Newhouse, Editorial Director at Travel Retail Business.

Among the speakers will be Robert Waloni, Director and Board Member at Angkasa Pura Airports in Indonesia.

Workshop D, on India and South Asia, will be moderated by Travel Retail Consultant and former Aer Rianta International-Middle East Managing Director John Sutcliffe.

The panel, including Times OOH CEO Arghya Chakravarty, Flemingo International Director and Board Member Paul Topping, and Delhi Duty Free CEO Duncan Lawley. The session will explore India and key markets elsewhere in South Asia, including Sri Lanka, where infrastructure developments are designed to enhance the island’s appeal to tourists.

Entitled Asia 2020, the final session of the TFWA Asia Pacific Conference will explore the shopping behaviour of tomorrow’s Asian traveller.

Jorge Rodriguez, Director of brand development consultant Brand Alliance, will share exclusive research on “˜Generation Y’ shoppers, said TFWA. Shubhodeep Pal, Vice President of aviation marketing consultancy Simpliflying, will explore how mobile connectivity will transform the way customers behave, and how stakeholders can take advantage within the travel chain.

This final session will be moderated by TFWA Conference, Research and Corporate Affairs Director John Rimmer.

Business networking coffee breaks during the day will be provided by Ferrero and Perfetti van Melle.
