TFWA World Exhibition 2006 begins as The Moodie Report unveils first Cannes BLOG – 20/10/06

FRANCE. Industry representatives from all over the world are heading for Cannes today as the annual TFWA World Exhibition gets set to begin on Sunday. The annual exhibition, which begins with a sporting day on Sunday and a conference on Monday, is the biggest event in the travel retail calendar.

After heavy rain yesterday, conditions are overcast today with some prospect of rain. Thunder is predicted for Saturday with rain on Monday and otherwise partly cloudy conditions. The temperature today is 59 °F / 15 °C , and is expected to rise to 72°F / 22°C on Monday. For a full five-day Cannes forecast (weather not sales) click here.

Last year’s Cannes event showcased 452 exhibiting companies, representing thousands of brands, and attracted more than 5,200 trade visitors, up +4% on the previous year. This year’s show is expected to be bigger still. Such is the demand for space that a new permanent Bay Village has been built to replace the temporary 800sq m Crystal Village which was used in 2004 and 2005. The 1,345sq m Bay Village brings the total exhibition space at the Palais des Festivals to 19,000sq m.

The Moodie Report is bringing its biggest-ever editorial contingent to the show to ensure up-to-the-minute reporting of the show’s big stories.

And in a major innovation this year we will be launching our own line extension, The Moodie Report Cannes BLOG – a personalised view of Cannes by our top editors that allows for instant feedback from delegates at the show and from around the world. Coming soon.
