FRANCE. TFWA has announced further details of the speaker line-up and schedule for the upcoming 2024 TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes.
The conference, to be held at Palais des Festivals on 30 September, will commence with an opening address by TFWA President Erik Juul-Mortensen centred on the current state and future outlook of the industry.
Headlining the conference, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will engage in a keynote conversation with broadcaster, journalist and presenter of BBC World’s HARDTalk Stephen Sackur.
Clinton will draw on her five decades of experience in public service – as an advocate, attorney, First Lady, US Senator, US Secretary of State and presidential candidate – to discuss the impacts of the evolving geopolitical landscape on the duty-free and travel retail industry.
Delegates will then hear from futurist, best-selling author and meta-media studio Radical Next CEO Sam Rad, who will explore emerging technological and cultural trends, highlighting the need for adaptability to cater to a new generation of travellers.
Completing the speaker lineup will be NASA astronaut, XPrize Foundation CEO and the first female private space explorer Anousheh Ansari. Her address will explain how companies can cultivate explorative and innovative mindsets to thrive in a changing landscape.
A workshop on 1 October in the Majestic Hotel will provide delegates with insights from industry experts on various topics addressing developments and challenges in the travel retail ecosystem.
The first session will include an update from Airport Council International’s specialist committee on Airport Non-Aeronautical Revenues and Activities (ANARA). Participants in this discussion will include Paccaya Resources Founder and Chair of ANARA Andrew Ford; AVOLTA CEO of Southern Europe Isabel Zarza; and Horizon Consumer Science’s Ian Cesa.
The second part of the workshop will see Innovation at Euromonitor International Senior Consultant Marie Isquenderian discuss the impact of digital trends on daily consumption. Isquenderian will be joined by global consultancy firm Kearney Managing Partner & Chairman Alex Liu, who will share strategies for thriving in the dynamic travel retail environment.
