The Loop aims to showcase the best of Irish produce at the festival |
IRELAND. The Loop at Dublin Airport will host a week-long Irish Food Festival from 27 September, DAA (formerly Dublin Airport Authority) has announced.
The company aims to pay tribute to Irish producers and suppliers and the wide range of local produce available at the airport.
During the food festival week, passengers and airport visitors will have access to tastings, quick fire cookery demonstrations, celebrity guest chefs, new food festival menus and other events and activity.
One of the tender requisites for all restaurants and cafés at The Loop is a commitment to supporting local producers and suppliers, noted DAA.
It said travellers could enjoy high-quality Irish products from Derry Clarke’s sausages to Wright’s of Howth salmon; Frank Brady’s pork (Cavan) and O’Flaherty’s of Wexford fish; Walshe’s Farm juices, jams from Carlow and nearby Wicklow beef from supplier Thomas Short.
Bill Twomey, Head of Food Services at The Loop said: “Between terminals 1 and 2 we have a total of 27 food & beverage outlets, catering for an average 34,000 people, every day. There is a really strong offering of freshly prepared Irish ingredients, so we decided to launch the inaugural Irish Food Festival to showcase the very best of what’s on offer at the airport.
“The festival will create a live, interactive experience for everyone at Dublin Airport. Arriving to the airport early takes some of the stress out of travelling and allows passengers to relax and enjoy a snack or meal before they fly. We hope to make The Loop Irish Food Festival an annual event on the foodie calendar.”
The food offering at The Loop is underpinned by value offers such as the year-round “˜Feed your Family for €25′ promotion, which has proved popular according to DAA.
The Loop is the name for the retail offering at both Dublin and Cork airports, including food & beverage outlets.
