FRANCE. L’Oréal and Aéroports de Paris have joined forces to stage an exclusive portrait exhibition of five extraordinary women in science. The event will run for two months until 8 May at key locations in Parisian airport terminals.
Renowned French photographer Brigitte Lacombe travelled the globe to capture the spirit and passion of the Laureates of the 2015 L’Oréal – UNESCO For Women in Science Awards. The exhibition features photographs taken in Professor Yi Xie’s lab in China; in Professor Thaisa Storchi Bergmann’s observatory in the mountains of Chile; in the emblematic hall of Oxford University where Professor Dame Carol Robinson works; in Professor Rajâa Cherkaoui El Moursli’s classroom in Morocco; and in Professor Molly S. Shoichet’s Canadian lab.
Lacombe has worked with some of the world’s most prestigious magazines, such as Vanity Fair and The New Yorker. Her work with the five Laureates aims to help change perceptions about women in science.
2015 marks the 10 anniversary of Aéroports de Paris’ partnership with the L’Oréal Foundation in support of the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science programme. “Aéroports de Paris has been engaged in supporting women in science since 2006,” noted Aéroports de Paris’ Communications Director Benjamin Perret. “Each year, we support this cause and offer exceptional visibility to increase public awareness.”
