The Moodie Davitt Report seeks Senior Market Analyst

INTERNATIONAL. The Moodie Davitt Report (part of Mark Allen Group), is creating a senior, hands-on editorial and research role to deepen its analytical coverage of the global travel retail, airport commercial revenues and wider travel sectors.

The Moodie Davitt Report is the runaway leader in travel retail B2B publishing and events and seeks an outstanding candidate capable of analysing, distilling and presenting sector information into cogent and actionable intelligence. The individual will be expected to grow an exciting new division in both content and revenue terms.

The successful candidate will originate and write reports, analysis and trend pieces aimed at our readership of decision-makers across these channels. The candidate will also develop and manage our research & analysis capabilities, both in-house and through our partnership network.

The role requires two capabilities in equal measure: strong commercial analysis and sound writing skills. The successful candidate will turn complex data and industry developments into clear, authoritative research and reports. This will include producing data-driven analysis, written reports and editorial coverage that help our global audience understand the trends shaping the industry.

Much of the work will draw on credible third-party datasets, company reporting, market evidence and The Moodie Davitt Report’s extensive editorial archive.

The role

The Senior Market Analyst will take work from initial conception through research, analysis, writing and publication. They will propose their own subjects, fine-tune them with senior editors and maintain a forward pipeline of analytical content, while responding to important developments in the market.

Writing will be a substantial and continuing part of the job. The role is intended for someone who wants to take a hands-on approach, rather than solely direct other writers or manage a research function.

Alongside this, the candidate will manage relationships and build commercially viable win-win partnerships with selected research partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyse financial results and commercial performance across airport companies and travel retailers
  • Track global passenger traffic trends and aviation market developments
  • Produce clear analytical commentary and reports for publication
  • Translate financial, commercial and market information into accurate, engaging prose for an informed international business audience
  • Support the editorial team with high-quality data-driven insights and research
  • Where required, commission a specialist or freelance contributor, setting a clear brief and editing their work to the required Moodie Davitt standard
  • Develop bespoke new research projects through our chosen partners and develop new partnerships
  • Maintain a forward plan that balances major reports, recurring analytical formats and timely responses to market developments.

Coverage will span the full range of airport non-aeronautical activities, including travel retail, food & beverage, airport advertising and other commercial services.

Candidate profile

Candidates may come from business or financial journalism, market analysis, consulting, analyst, research-led publishing or a related field.

Applicants must show strong analytical and research skills and be able to interpret complex data and market developments, with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent written communication and the ability to present insights clearly and authoritatively
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Additional languages (such as Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, French or Russian) are an advantage.

You will join the market-leading publication in this sector, working alongside the industry’s most respected editorial team and contributing to several exciting new projects currently in development.

We are looking for someone with a fierce commitment to excellence, innovation and delivering work of the highest quality, and we expect candidates to bring relevant experience in business analysis and financial analysis, and show an interest in aviation, travel retail or a related international sector.

Location: Fully remote – candidates can be based anywhere globally.

Remuneration: To be determined and commensurate with experience.
