The Moodie Davitt Report x Globuy Duty Free News Flash: Gucci Beauty takes over Seoul and Cartier reveals an elegant new look in Hong Kong

As part of our pioneering information-sharing agreement with leading Chinese consumer platform Globuy, a selection of our stories with key Moodie Davitt brand partners will appear on Globuy’s weekly ‘Duty Free News Flash’ column.

Globuy aims to become “the KOL of Chinese travel retail” and already has 400,000 followers and a monthly audience of 1 million views for its WeChat social media platform promoting new launches, product availability, promotions and special offers.

This week, Globuy picked up on several stories provided by The Moodie Davitt Report. It reported on the first trial run of an export pick-up counter concept in South Korea’s duty free market. The trial means that ‘daigou’ resellers may need to pick up their duty free purchases from the export pick-up counter instead of on-site in the near future.

Globuy also recapped our on location coverage of Gucci Beauty’s ‘imperfect beauty’ event in the Lotte Duty Free Star Lounge in Seoul. The three-day Gucci Beauty Seoul event kicked off with a glamorous launch party on 8 November, attended by over 250 local and international KOLS.

It also reviewed three new product launch stories from The Moodie Davitt Report. This week, Globuy reviewed Too Faced’s ‘Better than Sex Eyeliner’, FOREO’s ‘Bear’ microcurrent beauty devices, and Molton Brown’s travel retail exclusive sets.

Globuy also reported on how L’Oréal Travel Retail elevated the shopping experience in Changi Airport with the launch of its YSL Beauty Station pop-up. The multi-dimensional Beauty Station pop-up made its debut at the Coachella Festival in California earlier this year.

Finally, Globuy concluded this week’s Duty Free News Flash by sharing more on location coverage of Cartier’s newly renovated boutique in Hong Kong International Airport. The boutique was unveiled in partnership with King Power Global Development Company; and was celebrated with champagne toasts, red envelopes, and traditional Cantonese roast pig.

The Moodie Davitt Report will subsequently publish a curated selection of Chinese consumer feedback on the chosen stories and also reveal the results of regular consumer surveys conducted in association with Globuy.
