The Wright Group’s sense of place concept Clipper Bar & Kitchen takes off at Dublin Airport

IRELAND. Irish hospitality operator The Wright Group has unveiled proprietary concept The Clipper Bar & Kitchen in the Dublin Airport Terminal 1 arrivals hall.

Positioned as a full-service bar and casual dining space with numerous screens to watch sporting action, it offers all-day breakfasts and a menu featuring pub favourites.

The Clipper Bar & Kitchen is a venue evoking a strong sense of place. The name pays homage to the famous Clipper flying boats that operated the first transatlantic passenger flights between North America and Foynes, Co. Limerick.

The venue’s attractive landside bar area provides a relaxing place to raise a glass to the Clipper, an integral piece of Irish aviation history

Foynes was once a key gateway to Ireland and is also known as the birthplace of Irish Coffee.

The Wright Group noted: “This heritage connection reflects a pioneering era of travel and adds a strong sense of aviation history to the concept.”

The Clipper Bar & Kitchen is The Wright Group’s second opening at Dublin Airport this year. As reported, the company unveiled traditional Irish pub Ryan’s in Terminal 2 during January.

Artwork is devoted to the Pan Am Clipper flying machines, which provided critical connections between Foyne, Ireland and Port Washington, New York during World War II

The Wright Group CEO Michael Wright said: “With The Clipper, we wanted to create a space that captures both the excitement of travel and the warmth of an Irish welcome.

“Inspired by the legacy of Foynes and early transatlantic aviation, we are proud to add The Clipper to our portfolio while creating more jobs in the Fingal area.”

Dublin Airport Commercial Director Ronan Fitzsimons commented: “At Dublin Airport, we pride ourselves on offering a warm Irish welcome and The Clipper is another very welcome addition to the food & beverage offering in our terminals.

“Located just a few steps from the arrivals doors in Terminal 1, it provides a first impression of Ireland for the many millions of visitors that fly in every year from all around the world.

“We’re sure that The Clipper is going to become a firm favourite with those flying in and their nearest and dearest when they come to Dublin Airport to meet them.” ‍
