They’ve done it again – Dubai Duty Free hits record high for second day running

UAE. Dubai Duty Free has achieved a world record high for daily sales for the second day running. Yesterday’s sales reached AED 5.8 million (US$1.63 million).

The incredible result tops that of the previous day, 22 October, when the retailer generated sales of over AED 5.2 million (US$1.45 million).

Speaking about the 23 October result at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, Dubai Duty Free managing director Colm McLoughlin told The Moodie Report that he was delighted with this all-time high.

“We handled 31,435 transactions in the day,” he said. “And the average amount per transaction was US$46.”

The previous high was on 10 October, which saw sales of AED 4.9 million (US$1.4 million). Dubai Duty Free sales rose +19.9% in the first nine months of 2003 as passenger numbers increased +11.8% to 13.2 million.

Sales reached AED 929 million (US$252.9 million) in the first nine months.
