Timothée Chalamet named as the face of Bleu de Chanel

The Dune actor stars in a Mario Testino-photographed advertising campaign and will star in a Martin Scorsese-directed campaign film to be released in the autumn

French luxury house Chanel has named French/American actor Timothée Chalamet as the face of the Bleu de Chanel fragrance.

Chalamet is known for films such as Dune, Bones and All, Lady Bird, The French Dispatch and Call Me By Your Name. The last-named earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, the third-youngest actor to be nominated for the accolade.

Chanel said it chose the 27-year old actor for his “global reputation, audacious style and unapologetic charm”.

Chalamet — who is renowned for accepting roles that challenge traditional notions of masculinity — represents the next chapter of Bleu de Chanel, the brand said.

Bleu de Chanel marks Chalamet’s first collaboration with Chanel. The print campaign is shot by famed fashion photographer Mario Testino, while the campaign film is directed by Martin Scorsese. ✈

Reframing masculinity: Chalamet is renowned for redefining traditionally masculine roles. He is the third-youngest actor to be nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards.
