MIDDLE EAST. As part of The Moodie Report’s build-up to the third annual Middle East Duty Free Association (MEDFA) conference in Dubai on 27-28 November, we’re delighted to show two short films that were originally presented at the 2003 MEDFA conference.

Contained in ‘A Sense of Place’, commissioned by MEDFA and produced by Marshall Lightfoot, the films examine two of the region’s leading duty free retail operations, Abu Dhabi Duty Free and Dufry Emirates at Sharjah International Airport [please note that when this film was shot, Dufry was still known as Weitnauer]. It begins with Peter Marshall interviewing Abu Dhabi Deputy Managing Director Dan Cappell.

Look out next week for new – and exclusive to TRTV on The Moodie Report – footage of MEDFA President Mohamed Mounib, speaking on the eve of the MEDFA conference about the key issues facing the business. Mounib does not mince his words – especially when it comes to the controversial issues of perfume pricing in the region and suppliers’ inability – or unwillingness – to control their distribution.

Travel Retail TV on The Moodie Report.com, produced by Marshall Lightfoot, brings the world’s leading travel retailers, airports and suppliers to an online audience for the first time. To watch our earlier showing, Beirut Duty Free, simply click on the TRTV icon on home page.
