Travelex adds to strong Germany portfolio with Munich Airport tender win

GERMANY. Leading foreign exchange brand Travelex has won the tender to operate foreign exchange and tax refund services for Munich Airport Terminal 1.

The five-year contract for the non-Schengen Terminal will commence in October 2025, and will see Travelex operate two new stores and several ATMs at the facility.

Having opened its first German bureau in Frankfurt in 1993, Travelex operates 25 stores and over 50 ATMs across Frankfurt, Berlin Brandenburg, Hamburg and Cologne Bonn airports.

Winning the Munich Airport tender means Travelex will now operate at five of Germany’s six busiest airports, representing an approximate 90% share of the country’s international air passenger volumes.

Munich is Germany’s second-busiest airport and was the tenth busiest in Europe in 2023, with over 37 million passengers served.

Travelex Europe Director Leonard Stolk said: “We are hugely excited to have won the tender to operate at Munich Airport and to serve a city that has developed into one of Europe’s favourite shopping and tourism destinations, drawing millions of high-end travellers from around the world every year.

“Last year we celebrated 30 years of operations in Germany, and winning Munich Airport’s tender marks the latest successful chapter in our European journey.”
