GERMANY. Foreign exchange specialist Travelex has secured a five-year exclusive contract to operate currency services at the new Terminal 1 pier at Munich Airport.
The contract covers both airside and landside stores, alongside five ATMs in the non-Schengen pier area.

The openings enhance services at the new 95,000sq m terminal, which was inaugurated on 13 April.
Designed to support long-haul growth, the terminal extends airport capacity by 6 million passengers a year, and supports operations from around 40 airlines.
Travelex Managing Director for Europe Leonard Stolk said, “We’re thrilled to be chosen as the leading travel money partner to enter Munich Airport, building on our rich history in Germany that spans over three decades.
“The Munich Airport Terminal 1E/extension has set a new standard for passenger experiences, and we look forward to continuing to cater to the millions of travellers passing through this terminal, to ensure they have convenient and secure access to travel money and the possibility for tax refund.”

The partnership benefits from the strong momentum at Munich Airport, which recorded 43.4 million passengers in 2025, exceeding its pre-pandemic high.
The airport is now Germany’s second-busiest hub, accounting for roughly one in five air travellers entering the country.
Travelex’s new airport stores offer more than 50 currencies for same-day travel needs, while pre-ordered cash can be collected through the website, and tax refund services are also available.
The Munich Airport stores strengthen Travelex’s footprint across Germany’s six busiest airports, including Frankfurt, Berlin Brandenburg and Hamburg. The company has also extended its 33-year partnership at Frankfurt Airport, where it operates 13 stores and 30 ATMs. ✈
