Walsh Whiskey has released the fourth expression in its Writers’ Tears range, Writers’ Tears Copper Pot Deau XO Cognac Cask Finish.
The 46% ABV, triple-distilled, non-peated whiskey is available in selected European markets including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Holland, Canada and France, and in the USA. The RRP is €74.99 (US$85, £67.99).

Walsh Whiskey Founder Bernard Walsh finished this blend of aged single malt and single pot still whiskey for nine months in 12 French oak casks, which were seasoned for up to 15 years with Deau XO Cognac.
On the nose, Writers’ Tears Copper Pot Deau XO Cognac Cask Finish offers notes of poached pear, berries, freshly-pressed grapes and citrus zest. It has chocolate undertones and a floral and fruit finish.
As reported, the directors of Walsh Whiskey Distillery are to split the existing drinks brands business, built on the Writers’ Tears and The Irishman Irish whiskeys, from the Illva-Saronno-owned distillery business at Royal Oak, in County Carlow, Ireland.
