WATCHES & JEWELLERY: Frédérique Constant opens new showcases

SWITZERLAND. Swiss watchmaker Frédérique Constant has been selected by Harding Brothers to carry a 23 piece range onboard the newly-launched cruise ship Queen Mary 2. The range covers price points from approximately US$200 to US$1,000 and will be available onboard through the H Stern boutique.

Frédérique Constant CEO Peter Stas underlined the company’s rapid rise in travel retail markets: “The listing onboard the Queen Mary 2 has rounded off a terrific year for us. We have managed to grow the company by approximately +35% and the growth in travel retail has been phenomenal; it has almost doubled. Given our success in the US domestic market, we look forward to increasing sales to the American traveller as well as others”.

The company also signed recently with Brazilian operator Brasif Duty Free to have its watches listed in a total of nine airport outlets: five in Sao Paolo and four in Rio de Janeiro.

The selected 15 piece range covers both mens and womens models from approximately US$240 to US$750. The range features Quartz and Automatic models, in a variety of styles that encompass many of the “complications” or features for which Frédérique Constant is known.

“We already have a growing business in the Brazilian domestic market,” said Stas. “We are very pleased that a duty free operator of the standing of Brasif has realised the potential of the brand and hope that this will be the first of many south American operators to take an interest.”
