WATCHES & JEWELLERY: Frederique Constant ruled by the moon

SWITZERLAND. Swiss watchmaker, Frederique Constant has quietly been picking up duty free listings over the past year and has now further strengthened its top level Highlife range with the introduction of the Moonphase Chronograph (pictured).

The Moonphase Chronograph features an automatic movement, date pointer, stainless steel case, convex Sapphire glass, screw crown, ten bar water resistance and a choice of strap or bracelet. Travel retail price is approximately $3,350.

Frederique Constant ceo Peter Stas commented: “Following some very hard work to establish the brand in the best high street retailers around the world and achieving over 950 points of sale, we have been placing far more focus on duty free recently. Consequently we have increased our listings from our first on KLM to South African Airways, World Duty Free, Kuwait Airways, Martinair and Qatar Airways.”

Our aim has always been to offer technically superb timepieces at reasonable prices”, said Stas.

Frederique Constant says it has been increasing yearly sales by approximately +25% per annum over the past three years and bases its success on maintaining its belief in the classic watch segment whilst others clamber for recognition with sports and fashion models. Their tagline “Live your Passion” reflects a strong desire to ensure that the true watchmakers’ art can be made affordable.

Frederique Constant ranges retail from $175 to over $35,000 and offer quartz, automatic or tourbillon movements.
