AUSTRALIA. Wellington Jeweller launched its latest romantic-inspired collections at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes last month as listings in the key Chinese market gather pace.

The new Honeymoon Collection is a range of pendants with coloured crystals in various forms, including round, droplet and diamond shapes. Designed to be worn with casualwear, the retail price runs from US$75 to US$130.

Other collections on display for the Pica LeLa brand included Love Plus, Heart Plus and an expanded range of crystal animal figurines. A pig represents the year 2007, while the mouse is preparing to climb onboard airlines for 2008.

The past year has seen the firm open an office in Shanghai, where it has installed a jewellery designer.

Wellington’s Peggy Wu told The Moodie Report that China was a big market, with ten department stores in China carrying a selection of the company’s products. In addition, the company has a Pica LeLa shop-in-shop in Shanghai HongQaio Airport.

More airport and border store openings are set to follow soon, including a shop on the China-Russia border.

From February 2008, Wellington Jeweller will make its debut at Beijing Airport’s new Terminal Three with GABICO.
