AUSTRALIA. Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) has expanded its ground transport offering ahead of its inaugural flights on 25 October, with five leading car rental providers set to operate at the airport.

The addition of Hertz, Avis, Budget, Europcar and Redspot reinforces WSIs commitment to a customer-first experience, providing travellers with convenient rental options through a seamless and digitally enabled operating model.

WSI CEO Simon Hickey welcomed the five car rental providers, saying they will offer customers more options and flexibility at the new 24-hour airport.

He said, “At WSI, we’re rethinking the airport experience from the ground up and that includes how customers access car hire when they arrive or depart.

“Our car rental offering has been designed around convenience, choice and simplicity giving travellers access to leading global brands through a seamless experience.

“WSI will serve as a gateway to some of Australia’s most popular driving holiday destinations, including the Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands.

“For visitors looking to explore Sydney and beyond, having convenient access to rental vehicles from the moment they arrive will make it easier to discover these iconic regions by road.”

Keys in hand within minutes: Travellers can collect their rental vehicles from the P1 car park, only a short walk from the terminal

The expanded transport offering includes dedicated in-terminal kiosks for each rental provider, allowing both pre-booked and walk-up customers to conveniently access services upon arrival.

Rental vehicles will be available from the P1 car park, located just a short two-to-three-minute walk from the terminal, reinforcing the airport’s customer-first approach and enabling a smooth transition from aircraft to road.

Travellers will be able to book rental vehicles through the participating operators’ websites in the coming months, with further information also set to be published on the WSI website ahead of passenger services commencing in October.

The airport company said these partnerships reinforce its integrated ground transport strategy, giving travellers access to a broad mix of transport options, including public bus links, car rental, ride-share services and expansive on-site parking.

Avis Budget Group Australia Managing Director Pacific Thomas Mooney said, “We are incredibly excited to partner with Western Sydney International Airport and be part of this transformational project from the very beginning.

“This partnership represents a significant opportunity to support the growth of Western Sydney while continuing to deliver convenient, reliable and innovative mobility solutions for travellers across Australia.

“Western Sydney International Airport will play a critical role in connecting communities, creating jobs and driving economic growth and we are proud that Avis Budget Group will be alongside the airport on this journey.”

Hertz APAC Vice President Damien Shaw added, “Having a presence at Western Sydney International Airport represents an important step in Hertz’s continued investment in Australia’s transport infrastructure and evolving mobility needs.

“As one of the airport’s car rental providers, we will play a key role in supporting passenger movements from day one of operations, offering convenient and reliable transport solutions while contributing to the growth of this significant new gateway for Western Sydney.”

Purpose-built for the next generation of travellers, the terminal combines open, welcoming spaces with technology-enabled operations and customer-focused services

Redspot Strategic Accounts Manager Harrison Scowsill commented, “Redspot is proud to be part of Western Sydney International Airport from day one and to support the significant economic opportunities this new gateway will create for Western Sydney, New South Wales and Australia.

“As Australia’s largest independent car rental company, we see WSI as a transformative piece of national infrastructure that will improve connectivity, stimulate tourism, support local businesses and create new employment opportunities across the region.”

Europcar Mobility Group Australia & New Zealand Managing Director Avdyl Kamberi said, “We are incredibly proud to join Western Sydney International Airport as a key car rental partner.

“This transformational infrastructure will be a major driver for the region’s visitor economy, and Europcar is committed to supporting that growth by delivering a seamless and reliable mobility experience for every traveller.

“By giving domestic and international visitors the freedom to explore, we look forward to supporting local tourism, encouraging greater visitation across Sydney and surrounding regions, and contributing to long-term economic growth for local communities and businesses.”
