WHP Global unveils travel retail expansion plans for Toys R Us

Diversifying retail offers at airports and cruise ships, Go! Retail Group will roll out the Toys R Us store at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in November

USA. WHP Global has partnered with Go! Retail Group to bring Toys R Us into travel retail.

As reported, the company announced in May that it would launch Toys R Us at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport with Duty Free Americas, which is set to open in November. The store will feature popular toy brands and exclusive regional merchandise.

Toys R Us made its US comeback in 2021 with the opening of its 1,858 sq m flagship store at American Dream mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It then launched 452 Toys R Us mini-shops inside Macy’s stores across the country in 2022.

WHP Global Chairman and CEO Yehuda Shmidman said: “The Toys R Us brand is growing fast and our expansion into air, land and sea is a testament to the brand’s strength.

“Since acquiring Toys R Us, we have increased our global retail footprint by more than +50% with openings in the United States, United Kingdom, India, Dubai and Mexico.

“We now have over 1,400 stores and e-commerce sites across 31 countries, and as we head into 2024, we are excited to bring Toys R Us to consumers everywhere, whether you’re visiting one of our stores at Macy’s, at our flagships, in an airport, or onboard a cruise ship.”

Go! Retail Group CEO Gideon Schlessinger added: “As a specialty retailer and with deep roots in the toy and game industry, we are thrilled and honoured to partner with WHP Global to expand the base of Toys R Us flagship stores.

“With over 30 years of experience in all 50 states, our focus will be to do what we do best – provide valuable brick-and-mortar logistics and operational excellence to this iconic brand.” ✈
