WHSmith North America opens three speciality stores at Denver International Airport

The WHSmith branded store at Denver Airport offers a wide selection of convenience items as well as city-themed souvenirs such as shirts and caps

USA. WHSmith North America, incorporating Marshall Retail Group and InMotion, has unveiled three speciality concepts at Denver International Airport.

Market 5280 and WHSmith are now trading at the A Gates, while River North News is open at the B Gates.

Described as a modern take on the traditional newsstand, Market 5280 offers a range of products including travel essentials, local goods, snacks and drinks. A variety of Denver-themed apparel for adults and children, licensed sports apparel, drinkware, souvenirs, accessories and other gifting items are also available.

The abstract concept represents the connectivity of the Highland Bridge to the Lower Highlands and Downtown through Union Station, highlighting a sense of connectivity, diversity and exploration, the travel retailer said.

Travel convenience store River North News draws travellers’ attention with its “urban, energetic vibrancy” and reflects Denver’s creative hub, RiNo arts district.

The store front features a custom-commissioned street art mural by RiNo artist Jason Graves, who has also designed the interior signage and shopping bags of the store. River North News offers an assortment of Denver-themed apparel, drinkware and souvenirs.

WHSmith is a one-stop shop for books, magazines, gourmet snacks, refreshments and travel essentials, as well as apparel, gifts, souvenirs and more. The newsstand features a sleek and modern design, with a sophisticated black storefront perimeter contrasting with the natural light and warmth of brick accents.

All three stores will offer cold and fresh grab-and-go options from Olive and Finch, a local eatery collective serving intentionally sourced, chef-inspired and scratch-prepared food selections.

These concepts are operated in collaboration with WHSmith North America’s ACDBE partners Huy Pham with Innovative Retail Concepts, and Ray Mickens with M2 Concepts.

WHSmith North America CEO Toby Keir said: “We are so proud of the effort our team has demonstrated to develop these concepts and would like to give special thanks to our ACDBE and airport partners for their help bringing these projects to life.

“We had an incredible year of growth in 2023, and the openings at Denver International Airport have been the perfect way to kick off another successful year.”

The openings bring the total number of WHSmith North America stores in Denver Airport to 13. These include Arts District Market, Flight Stop, Larimer Street Market, five InMotion locations and more. ✈
