UK. Scotch whisky brand Whyte and Mackay has become the official club sponsor of the London Scottish rugby team.
The three-year agreement also sees Whyte and Mackay Brand Ambassador and one of Scottish rugby’s legends, Kenny Logan, sign up with the club.
The deal coincides with the launch of the club’s three-year plan to compete in the National League Division 2. Having been promoted four times in the last five years, they are only two promotions away from their goal.
Logan has worked alongside Whyte and Mackay on various projects over the past few years. With 70 International caps under his belt, he will be joining a long list of Scottish legends who have played for the club. His recent appearance against Old Albanians will make him the 202nd Scottish Internationalist to play for London Scottish since they were formed in 1878.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Whyte and Mackay Group Managing Director Bob Brannan said: “Whyte and Mackay are delighted to be joining a resurgent London Scottish at such an exciting time. Our agreement will see us providing some much-needed financial support to the club with the added benefit of bringing with us a legendary Scot in the form of Kenny Logan.
“One of the things that attracted us to London Scottish is their great rugby tradition, and we look forward to working closely with them over the next three years to establish them once again as a major force in national rugby.”
Logan added: “I am very excited about playing for London Scottish and can’t wait for my first appearance. I look forward to helping the club achieve their goal of competing in the National Leagues.”
Rod Lynch, President of London Scottish, said: “London Scottish are delighted to the receive support of Whyte and Mackay, which represents a step up for the club at the exact time that we are making a challenge for a return to the senior league.”
The sponsorship of London Scottish adds to Whyte and Mackay’s sporting heritage, which includes partnerships with Leeds United and Hibernian Football Clubs.
