Women in Travel Retail (WiTR) is supporting Hand in Hand for Haiti’s Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable school in this year’s fundraising raffle and silent auction at TFWA World Exhibition.
As reported, WiTR aims to raise €15,000 to purchase musical instruments and enable the launch of Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable’s first extracurricular instrumental music programme. The project is in partnership with Ecole de Musique Christian Nohel de Saint Marc.

WiTR said the benefits of music education are “astounding”.
“Studies have consistently revealed the tremendously positive effect that music education has on a child’s academic performance, sense of community, self-expression and self-esteem. But for nearly all children across Haiti, formal music education is unattainable,” WiTR said.
Every child in the Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable will have the opportunity to discover internationally-recognised as well as local music through the school’s programme.
The fundraising event will take place during WiTR’s annual meeting on Tuesday 2 October (5.30pm to 7pm) on level 1, near the Business Centre and Hotels Desk at the Palais des Festivals.
Past WiTR meetings have raised considerable funds to support disadvantaged children, thanks to the generosity of members and friends in the industry who support the event by donating prizes and buying draw entries.
