HONG KONG. DFS Group this week partnered with Alipay to celebrate the mobile payment provider’s blockbuster 12.12 promotion at key DFS locations in Asia and North America.
12.12 is an annual global shopping festival hosted by Chinese enterprise Alipay, the world’s largest payment and lifestyle platform. Over 110 million shoppers participated in this year’s event (the 2015 campaign attracted 28 million shoppers to retailers in 200 cities).
The event gives Alipay users access to exclusive promotions and offers. This year, shoppers visiting DFS airport locations at Hong Kong International, John F. Kennedy International, Los Angeles International and San Francisco International Airport as well as T Galleria by DFS locations in Hong Kong and Singapore from 9 to 12 December were able to enjoy a variety of offers. These included a -10% discount on selected beauty, fashion, accessories, food, gifts and wine & spirits, plus ¥50 (US$7.25) coupons exclusive to Alipay users.

In Hong Kong, Alipay chose DFS’ T Galleria Beauty location in Causeway Bay as the launchpad for the city’s 12.12 promotion. A flash mob (pictured below) was staged in front of the store on 10 December and a real-time heat map installed from 9 to 12 December to show where Causeway Bay shoppers were utilising Alipay.
DFS, owned by LVMH and Robert Miller, offers Alipay as a payment option for customers in eight locations across Asia and North America.
