Omega opens new flagship store at Hong Kong International

HONG KONG. Leading international watchmaker Omega (part of The Swatch Group) officially opened its new flagship store at Hong Kong International airport (HKIA) on 25 August. The 42sq m (452sq ft) outlet, opened as part of the new East Hall extension, is Omega’s second airport store – and its second in Hong Kong (the other is downtown). The first airport boutique was opened at Beijing Capital International airport in May 2002.

The new store, operated in partnership with Nuance-Watson (HK), claims to offer travellers a “unique retail experience in an elegant and comfortable shopping environment”. It carries a comprehensive range of Omega products, including some special collections that are only available from the company’s flagship stores. The range at HKIA includes Bijoux, Omega’s latest and first dedicated jewellery collection; and the luxurious new Omega Constellation Quadra Chrono collection.

The opening was attended by Omega president Stephen Urquhart and managing director of Nuance-Watson (HK) Alessandra Piovesana. Urquhart commented: “Omega is very excited to open a second flagship store in Hong Kong, particularly in the strong retail environment of HKIA, with its strategic access to the China market and role as an international travel hub. We are confident that the international strength of the Omega brand and our duty free proposition will entice many of the thousands of international and local visitors to the airport to browse our stylish boutique when travelling.”

Piovesana added: “I believe that one very important and critical performance factor is that we all stand for one common goal, and that is to present the best merchandise and service to the travellers of HKIA. Based on this common goal and our partnership approach, this has resulted in the opening of this splendid new Omega boutique.”
