Lancaster’s new Ceramik watch line inlaid with 112 diamonds |
ITALY. Fashion watch company Alvea plans to enter the travel retail channel with its portfolio. The family-owned company, based in Bari, Italy, produces and distributes four brands:
– Lancaster watches, sunglasses, leathergoods, jewellery (registered trademark)
– Giovine, an Italian-made watch brand targeted at the middle-high end of the market (registered trademark)
– Krizia watches (licence agreement with Krizia S.P.A)
– Gai Mattiolo watches and jewellery (licence agreement with Gai Mattiolo S.P.A)
“Alvea’s core business is the Lancaster watch line, which we have distributed and produced for ten years. We started distribution in Italy and then worldwide in 1997,” said Vincenzo Sardone, one of the company’s founders.
Explaining Alvea’s philosophy, Sardone told The Moodie Report: “All our products are made and designed in Italy. They are very different from what else is on the market, particularly our watches. We offer fashion watches and luxury lines with diamonds at really competitive prices.”
The company has launched two new timepieces from Lancaster; the Kappero and the Ceramik. The Kappero is a collection of 28 women’s timepieces described as “the expression of a soft elegance, a delicate mix between the remote past and the ultrafuture of Lancaster fashion.” The Kappero has a stainless steel case, basic or precious with 56 diamonds (0,47ct), with Swiss movement and silk strap. International suggested retail price for the basic collection is €260 and €680 for the precious collection.
Introduced this year in Basel, the Ceramik range has garnered great success in the worldwide watch industry for its unique design combined with a “really interesting” price, said Sardone. The watches feature chronograph with Swiss Eta quartz movement, 112 diamonds inlaid on the top ring for 1ct of diamonds, sapphire glass, screw-down case and crown, water-resistant to 5 atm, face in white or pink, genuine mother of pearl dial or black, matched with the colours of high-tech ceramic case and bracelet. International suggested retail price is €1,950.
The basic Krizia watch line retails from €120 to €180. The Giovine line of luxury Italian-made watches was launched officially at the 2004 Basel Fair and carries a higher retail price tag, ranging from €500 to €3,000. All Alvea’s watches feature Swiss quartz movements.
Alvea’s watches are sold in stores worldwide; the strongest markets are Italy, the Middle East and Asia, particularly South Korea. The company is new to travel retail and exhibited its products at the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas in April.
