INTERNATIONAL. Gebr Heinemann has responded to the call for additional aviation security campaign funding by contributing a further €25,000 to the European Travel Retail Council (ETRC)-led drive.
Co-owner Gunnar Heinemann confirmed the pledge, the day after the formal adoption by the European Commission of a new regulation that should ease the problems for EU transfer passengers from select third countries. The pledge follows an urgent call for additional funding from ETRC President Frank O’Connell.
Gebr Heinemann was the first company to answer the original call to the industry to finance the ETRC campaign, launched by O’Connell at the 2006 TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, with a contribution of €50,000.
Welcoming this additional generous donation from Gebr Heinemann, O’Connell commented that further financial support was still needed from other industry companies to ensure the trade has the necessary resources to support the EU recognition process with third countries.
The ETRC also acknowledged other donations that have been confirmed during recent weeks from Shiseido, the Nordic Travel Retail Group and The Moodie Report.
