Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

SOUTH AFRICA. Today’s selection comes from Tourvest Retail & Catering, which brought together South African Airways and fashion and lifestyle brand Maxhosa Africa in a collaboration that celebrates national pride, connection and identity.
The partnership is brought to life by a heartfelt Father’s Day film centred on the relationship between a South African Airways pilot and his son. In the short video, the son, travelling as a passenger on his father’s flight, presents him with a pair of Maxhosa Africa socks before the two share an emotional embrace.
The film closes with the message: “As we stand tall, we honour the ones who lifted us. Happy Father’s Day.”
Tourvest Retail & Catering shared the campaign via a post on LinkedIn.
Timed to coincide with Father Day’s (21 June), the campaign film highlights Maxhosa Africa’s distinctive socks as ideal Father Day’s gifts, available onboard South African Airways.
The collaboration also underlines the growing role of inflight retail as a channel for storytelling and brand discovery. Through the film, Tourvest Retail & Catering is elevating the inflight shopping experience while simultaneously supporting homegrown brands.
Founded in 2010, Maxhosa Africa is a luxury fashion brand inspired by traditional Xhosa beadwork aesthetics and African cultural heritage. The brand has expanded its creative vision to celebrate and reinterpret influences from diverse cultures across the continent.

Manufactured in Africa using locally sourced resources, Maxhosa Africa is committed to supporting economic growth across the continent while showcasing African craftsmanship on a global stage.
Tourvest Retail & Catering said it was pleased to play a facilitating role in bringing the partnership to life, describing the initiative as an example of the power of collaboration and storytelling within the travel retail sector. ✈
