AUSTRALIA. Independent retailer Airport Pharmacy (www.airportpharmacy.com.au) opened its first Health + Beauty Express store at Cairns Airport this week. The store is located in the Domestic Terminal Departures Lounge.
Director Rajiv Bhindi said: “Health + Beauty Express is a concept that grew out of our existing Airport Pharmacy located within Adelaide Airport.
“Our experience there showed us that travellers are looking for a good selection of quality, affordable perfumes, cosmetics and skin care as well as over the counter pharmacy items.
“We’ve developed this concept for the new Cairns store further to offer an exclusive range of convenient travel size items that also meet the current regulations for international travel. This includes gorgeous miniature bottles of many top name fragrances.”

Cairns Airport Pty Ltd General Manager Commercial and Terminals Kate McCreery-Carr said Health + Beauty Express is an exciting addition to the retail offer at Cairns Airport. “We congratulate Raj and his team on their striking new store with its distinctive black and white décor and beautiful product range,” she said.
Explaining the background to the new store, Bhindi told The Moodie Report: “I am a qualified pharmacist and opened the first Airport Pharmacy at the new, multi-user Adelaide Airport around four years ago. We have had a fantastic response to the pharmacy in Adelaide and the Health + Beauty express concept has evolved from this initial store.
“In addition to beauty, the outlet also provides travellers with a wide range of health-related products, which can generally be found in pharmacies. These products will include analgesics, cold remedies, vitamins and nutritional supplements.
“Through a new experiential service model that will be heavily focused on the customer, we will focus on creating a unique shopping experience whilst ensuring exceptional value,” Bhindi said.

The outlet also features a selection of fashion accessories, including fashion readers, sunglasses and trendy giftware.
Bhindi said: “We wish to capitalize on the opportunity to provide travellers with mid- and mass-market beauty products, as well as essential health-related products normally found only in pharmacies.
“The Health + Beauty Express model has been developed by listening to Airport Pharmacy customers and giving them what they want. The introduction of Health + Beauty Express is the result of this customer insight combined with our extensive beauty, health and travel retail experience.
“I am hopeful that the Health + Beauty Express concept will be accepted well by both domestic and international passengers as we offer them lifestyle brands and products which they would normally not find at the airport and also are heavily customer service-focused. I am very proud of the decor, look and feel that we have achieved at the Cairns Airport store and have had fantastic feedback from travellers and airport/airline staff.
